چکیده

The transverse spatial coherence of an optical beam alters as the light traverses a dense, multiplescattering, random dielectric medium. Results of measurements show the predicted initial increase of the decoherence (or decorrelation) rate with spatial separation, followed by saturation at large separation. This behavior can be modeled by using a Boltzmann-like transport equation for the Wigner function of the wave field, whereas the standard model for decoherence (developed for quantum wave fields), which is based on the Fokker-Planck phase-space diffusion equation, contains no saturation and fails at all separations to describe the observed behavior. Propagation of transverse optical coherence in random multiple-scattering media

We experimentally investigate the evolution of the transverse spatial coherence of light as it traverses a random, multiple-scattering medium. For near-forward scattering, it has been proposed that the wave-transport process can be well described by a transport equation for the spatial-angular Wigner function of the light, or equivalently for the two-point spatial coherence function ~mutual int...

Paraxial Coupling of Propagating Modes in Three-Dimensional Waveguides with Random Boundaries

We analyze long range wave propagation in three-dimensional random waveguides. The waves are trapped by top and bottom boundaries, but the medium is unbounded in the two remaining directions. We consider scalar waves, and motivated by applications in underwater acoustics, we take a pressure release boundary condition at the top surface and a rigid bottom boundary. The wave speed in the waveguid...

Modeling Decoherence Effects on the Transport Properties of Mesoscopic Devices

In this paper we present a Monte Carlo technique aimed at including the effects of decoherence in mesoscopic electron transport in the scattering matrix of the system such technique is based on a phenomenological microscopic model, that captures the effect of elastic interactions in terms of a random term added to the phase of the single particle wave function. Given the random character of sca...

A New Type of Intensity Correlation in Random Media

A monochromatic point source, embedded in a three-dimensional disordered medium, is considered. The resulting intensity pattern exhibits a new type of long-range correlations. The range of these correlations is infinite and their magnitude, normalized to the average intensity, is of order 1/k0l, where k0 and l are the wave number and the mean free path respectively. 42.25.Dd, 71.55.Jv Typeset u...

Multiple Solutions for Slip Effects on Dissipative Magneto-Nanofluid Transport Phenomena in Porous Media: Stability Analysis

In the present paper, a numerical investigation of transport phenomena is considered in electrically-conducting nanofluid flow within a porous bed utilizing Buongiorno’s transport model and Runge-Kutta-Fehlberg fourth-fifth order method. Induced flow by non-isothermal stretching/shrinking sheet along with magnetic field impact, dissipation effect, and slip conditions at the surface are...
